TechFlight Ventures Open AI Hackathon Recap
El Paso, Texas.
This past weekend, April 26-28, 2024, took place the TechFlight Ventures Open AI Hackathon, sponsored by Microsoft and in partnership with the STTE Foundation. This event brought together bright minds from both sides of the border to address crucial challenges in the education, health and community sectors and develop solutions that integrated AI technology.
A Weekend of Collaboration and Creativity
The event kicked off on Friday with a networking and team building session, followed by the release of the hackathon questions, which established the challenges and issues to be addressed. Panel discussions with industry leaders provided valuable insights and motivation for participants, addressing struggles in the education, health, and community sectors.
Saturday was marked by hands-on AI workshops led by Ian Love, CTO of Aizen Flow, and talks on the latest trends in life sciences and business strategies for startups. These sessions not only enriched participants' technical knowledge but also offered strategic insights to drive their future ventures.
The event culminated on Sunday with teams adding the finishing touches to their projects before presenting them to a panel of judges. The demonstration of solutions was followed by the awards ceremony, where the best projects in education, health, and community impact were recognized.

The students proved to get the most out of the event; their ideas, presentations, and confidence in answering the judges' questions were equally impressive across all teams. At Ferter, we are very pleased to see such dedication and creativity, as well as the opportunity that these spaces provide for the exchange of ideas between remarkable students from both sides of the border. In addition, we are very excited for the next session of the hackathon, which will take place May 31-June 2, where the issues to be addressed will be focused on the Renewable Energy, Retail and Advanced Manufacturing industries.
